Oak Canyon is a semi-circular cluster of homes on the most northeastern edge of Almaden Valley. This subdivision is bordered by Coleman Avenue to the southeast and, on the northwestern side, a large open field edged with oak trees on one side, and large boulders on the other. The 271 homes of Oak Canyon were built in the 1980s by Shea Homes. They are large 2,000 – 3,000 square foot, contemporary homes. The spacious yards are beautifully landscaped, many with native California plants. Oak Canyon is well known for its annual “Oak”toberfest celebration, where Capitancillos Place is closed to traffic, and the community celebrates with a band, grilled sausages, beer, and other kid-friendly activities. During the December holidays, the streets are lined with beautiful luminary.
