Here are some upcoming events in the Almaden Valley area.

1. Fashion Show Lunches
There are two fashion show lunches in March to raise money for charities. First, on Saturday, March 2, the Elks Lodge hosts a women’s charity fashion show from 11am to 2pm. The theme is “Cabaret of Fashion” and features clothing fro the Dress Barn in Campbell. Tickets will be $25 and proceeds benefit handicapped children. There will also be prizes including a 40” flat screen TV, diamond earrings, and an Android tablet. The Elks lodge is located at 444 West Alma Ave. in San Jose, and you can check out their web page for more details. http://www.sjelks.com/home/events/ladies-charity-fashion/.

The second fashion show takes place next Saturday, March 9 at Mariani’s Restaurant from 10am – 1:45pm. Mariani’s is located at 2500 El Camino Real in Santa Clara. Melanie Devletian from Designer's Corner in San Jose is emceeing the event. Tickets are $45 and proceeds will benefit the O'Connor Hospital Family Center. Find out more information on their website, http://www.ochfoundation.org/2013/02/spring-fling-fashion-show-and-luncheon/.

2. San Jose 408k Race
Plan now to join San Jose’s 2nd annual 408k race, an 8k road race from downtown San Jose to Santana Row. Registration is open now and costs $45 for the race which starts next Sunday, March 10, at 8am. This is a benefit for the Pat Tillman Foundation, which no longer sponsors their own run here in San Jose. Typically, several residents along the route organize “cheer blocks” and serve free coffee and pastries for the participants. Find more info at their website, http://www.the408k.com/.
